Featuring a dynamic cinematic approach—complete with close-ups, angle changes, and a sharp focus on details—this film enhances the emotional depth of the performance, giving audiences a fresh, immersive experience. The editing maintains the authenticity of the live production while introducing new rhythms that amplify the impact of each scene.
The incredible artists of the early 20th-century Ukrainian creative elite—Khvylovy, Sosiura, Ostap Vyshnia, Les Kurbas, Mykhailo Semenko, and Pavlo Tychyna—are brought to life on the big screen. Red [Renaissance] tells the powerful story of these visionary creators who believed in the future of Ukrainian culture at the cost of their own lives.
This first-of-its-kind original historical musical in Ukraine not only sheds light on the lives of writers who shaped the nation but also honours their struggle against the oppressive Soviet regime. The performance explores the tragedy at the “Word” House in Kharkiv, where hundreds of prominent figures of the Ukrainian cultural movement were killed by the Soviet authorities in the early 20th century.
By bringing this incredible production to film, the MYR team preserves and digitises an essential piece of Ukrainian cultural heritage worldwide. The film is in Ukrainian with English subtitles.
A groundbreaking cinematic experience awaits you!
